Tony Avillion is the founder and sole instructor of Midnight Ocean Divers, LLC (MOD) — a veteran-owned SCUBA instruction company serving east Orlando, Vista Lakes, and the Lake Nona community. A PADI Master SCUBA Diver Trainer (MSDT-166411), Tony's path to instruction began in 1997 while stationed with the US Army in Egypt, diving in the Egyptian Red Sea — Jacques Cousteau's favorite location. He completed his Dive Master Internship in Bavaria, Germany, and attended the PADI Instructor Development Course in Key Largo in 1999. Over the following two decades, Tony taught SCUBA part-time while working as a Boat-Dive Master and Instructor in Germany and Virginia Beach before relocating to Central Florida in 2018. Midnight Ocean Divers was founded to serve the underserved east Orlando and Lake Nona markets, which have no established SCUBA instruction providers despite being close to Florida's extensive dive sites and springs. MOD offers semi-private and private SCUBA training for first-time divers through the full PADI certification ladder — Open Water Diver through Dive Master — plus specialty courses including NITROX, Deep, and Search & Recovery. The personalized, semi-private model ensures each student diver receives individual attention and is trained to the highest standards before entering open water.
